I tried lots of available nastaleeq fonts for Urdu in Adobe InDesign, some works well but distort some words, while same font in other apps like Microsoft Word doesn't have such problem, can anyone please help with this.

I guess this is something to do with my colour set up.
basically I am in the process of creating some simple one colour graphics in illustrator. And in illustrator they look just how I want nice and vibrant.
However once I place them into indesign they look dull and lifeless. This would not bother me except when I export to PDF from indeisgn that dull lifeless image is carried to the PDF.
If I PDF from illustrator it looks just how I want.
Frustratingly in the links panel of indesign that same great colour is there but I cannot for the life of me work out why in the document it looks dull and int he PDF too, I really need help on this as its for a tender which needs to be in by the end of the weekend.
To clarify I am not worried so much about absolute colour correction, i.e. calibrating screens etc, my problem is illustrator looks great, indesign looks dull.

I have a question refering to a pdf that i cant see some images.
In adobe Acrobat Reader DC and Adobe Acrobat DC the image that i want doesnt show.
But in Acobat Adobe 9 Professional it opens all images ..
There is any way of solve this question? or it will only work in Acrobat Adobe 9 Professional?

It is a solid proposition to prefer in many cases adopting the good tradition of center (horizontally) the frames in the pages, where the margins don't play their dominant role. The new margins, or (now) blank spaces, are identic in both sides and related to the left and righ word nearest the beginning and end of lines. And variable all the time.
Perhaps the reason behind this is that white space is democratically applied, resulting in a floating text (poem) centered in the page, producing a superb presence.
I was trying to implement an automatic process instead of dragging the right side to the left until it get perfectly fitted to the longest line and later centering in the page, fortunaly using the smart guides... But this hand-process is just a lost of time.
Indesign has a tool to fix vertically the frame (Fit Frame to Content) but this does not work horizontally.
It is scriptable?
Hi, After 10-15 minutes Indesign CC 2017 (12.1.0.156) freezez on Mac OS Sierra 10.12.5, the spinning wheel comes frequently. I also delete prference file, but it doesn't work.
My system configuration ...
iMac 5k Retina, RAM 16Gb, Core i5 3.2Ghz, AMD radeon 2 GB graphics.
Please help if somebody having solution on this. i can not work effeciently and fast on Indesign CC 2017.

I have been researching high and low about this and I'm still non the wiser!
I'm using Indesign CS5, and all I'd like to do is export my document to PDF including a non-printing layer so that the printers can see where to add the address to the flyer.
- I have tried changing the guide and text marks to buttons
- I've de-selected "print layer"
- I've attempted exporting to an interactive PDF
- I have played around with all of the "include" options in the exporting "general" section
Each time has resulted in either showing the non-printing object in the PDF which then shows when printing too, or doesn't show up in the PDF and doesn't print.
Any help with this would be much appreciated!

I have used to create Bookmark for all heading levels like (title,h1,h2 and h3). While adding this in a TOCStyle in the Indesign and using CreateTOC, the script crashes due to the Title tag tagged with separate frame.
Have anyone faced this issue before in creating Bookmark.

I tried to find an answer using Google and the FAQ here but I'm still no closer to finding a solution.
I am designing printable inserts for Travelers Notebooks. One very popular size is pocket size (3.5x5.5inch). I have designed them in InDesign - no problem there. I can print them as booklet but then most of my A4 sized printer paper is wasted as it is centered on the page.
I have tried designing one spread per page but then I have a problem with page creep and I'm not able to use booklet printing.
Is there a possibility to print 4 pocket pages (2 spreads) on 1 A4 paper sheet and still be able to use the booklet printing option?
Does anyone know a good tutorial or blog or something which can help me? I'm grateful for every tip one might have in this matter!

I'm experiencing the same issue today using the latest InDesign CC. Never had this issue before, a restart temporarily fixed the issue.. but now it's doing the same thing after working in the file for a bit. Seems this only started after the last Adobe CC updates...

i have a bunch of indesign-files with a bunch of color-swatches.
The color-swatches in every file are the same. The have the same name and the same color.
is it possible to update those swatches in all files. For example.
If i change the color of a swatch in one file, How can i make the same swatch from the other files update to the new color?
i know that you can load swatches but it's doesn't replace the old swatch-color. It kindda makes a copy if the swatch.
It feels like i need a CC-libraries where all the swatches are loaded. But the swatches lose the link to the librarie once they are used.
so i cant update the swatches in de library.
any ideas?
I have a document in which I want to do dot leaders. The text is all set (a couple of pages) and there are two spaces at the end of on each line where I want to have a tab so I can do dot leaders. Is there a way I can replace a double space with a tab using find and replace?

Hi, I've placed crop/registration marks on the master pages of my document but they are not showing up in the main pages of the document – any suggestions?
Please understand the following:
– I only have one layer in the document
– these marks are in the slug area of the page
– they do show up on all A-Master pages but not on B-master pages
– the graphic is identical on the A-Master
– I have tried creating a new master yet they still do not appear
– this only happens on the left spread of the 2 pages

Please see the attached screenshots. I managed to start a page number where I wanted(Page 2), now I want to change the first page to a cover page. Can someone teach me how to change the fist page to cover page, or direct me to a right tutorial? I want to change the first '1' to 'cover page 1', and create 'cover page 2'. Then 'cover 3' and 'cover 4' at the end of the page.
I have tried to search for a right tutorial, but I found irrelevant tutorials such as 'how to design cool cover page'...

I'm really struggling over here. I need to export a PDF with the right print presets and preflights.
When I try to load a print preset that is called MagazineAds_1v4_IND4.joboptions in my Adobe Indesign CC 2017
It tells me "Cannot import presets from this file". The steps I take are the following: Document Presets - Define - Load... and than select MagazineAds_1v4_IND4.joboptions
I also need to use: ISOcoated_v2_300_eci.icc in output - preflight - define profiles - load profiles.
But when I do it tells me "Cannot load profile from selected document".
Can somebody please tell me what I am doing wrong?

Hi all. I just installed InDesign CC on my 2017 macbook pro, and I can no longer constrain proportions of a bounding box (for text or photos) by pressing the command+shift key (or option+shift). I've tried some of the fixes I've read about here, including turning off smart guides and rebooting my system. Any ideas on what to do? I use this feature constantly. Thank you!

I've been going around in circles about this and I'm not quite sure what to do.
I'm designing a book cover for IngramSpark, and they require for the files to be exported in CYMK, and PDF/X-1a: 2001. However, each time I do export it, I get a blank file, which lately caused the file to being rejected.
Looking at the Separation preview, all the CYMK colours for all the items (cover art and text) on the cover are at 0%, which I believe is the cause of the problem. Can I change the colours individually? Is there a way to do this and how?!

Right now I am trying to correctly index a 600 page catalog. Everything is indexed and ready to go, so when I create my index, it jumbles the references. The problem that I am having is the index references are both alphabetical and alphanumerical. Is there a way to sort this correctly?
Right now, it displays like this:
I want this to sort in such a way that it displays the alphanumerical items as well as the numerical items in order, instead of sorting first by alphanumerics only and then numerical only. So it ends up looking something like this:
3AVOR56KOAD
31161-962
31162-962
etc.

I have InDesign CS4 and am trying to install it on a Windows10 machine. I'm receiving a "setup has encountered an error and cannot continue" message
