Problem embedding YouTube video into InDesign
I want to embed a YouTube video in my InDesign document. In YouTube, I right click/copy embed code. Then I paste into InDesign. I get an error message that says "HTML renderer timed out. No poster image was created." Why?

InDesign - change color of live area guideline
How can I change the color of the live area guideline?
I'm working on a flyer with a black background.
When the background is black, I can't see the guideline.

Publish Online Unreadable
I produce a weekly newsletter and 98% of my audience can open it (embedded on website), but there are a few that only see a spinning cursor and never launches. This sounds like an internet connection issue...is there another solution so they can get connected to read it? They can't see the download icon which would be helpful.

Text variable keyboard shortcut
I would like to define a keyboard shortcut for Type > Text Variables > Insert Variable, but when I looked at the list in Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts, there was no command listed for Insert Variable. If anyone has a suggestion for an efficient way to insert variables, I would appreciate it.

Indesign cc 2015 blank file is 5mb
Hello. Was noticing that my file sizes are growing and did a blank test. New blank 8.5x11" document and saved (to the internal 1tb MP drive) and it's 5MB. Whats going on? There are no styles, colors, etc. It's blank. I asked my partner to do the same on their computer and it's 875kb.

Transferred InDesign and nothing works
Hello everyone, I am incredibly new to Indesign, so most of everything I see in the program is another language, but unfortunately I need to learn it all fairly quick.
So I took over a person duties which involve indesign while also getting a new PC and putting all the files and programs on it. Well, all the old indesign files are missing links , the table of contents no longer directs you to the page via clicking it , and opening the files that were books, open each chapter separately not being connected at all. How was I supposed to go about putting this all on the new PC so that it worked like it never had moved?

Resizing images in proportion
I'm using InDesign cc 2015 and can't seem to get the hang of appropriately resizing images (ie without making them look short and fat or long and thin) within the frame of a page. Any tips on how I can do this?

Change an unselectable Footer in InDesign
I need to update an InDesign File and using InDesign CC 2014. Below is a snapshot of the text I need to edit, but I cannot select it. It also does not show up when I look at text variables. Been stuck for awhile now trying to figure what this is and how to edit.

Unwanted "Cover Page" in spread
Hi, I'm trying to get the 'cover page' to not be part of my spread.
I have tried: changing the settings when I create a new document, including changing the default, creating a new spread and deleting one, deleting all ID preferences. Still, I'm seeing "cover page" in my "pages" panel.
Having it there is messing up my numbering and I don't need it.
Can anyone help?
I'm using InDesign through CC and on Windows 10.

Can't change gutter width on master pages
I've just upgraded to 2015.4 and I'm setting up a new 20 page report document from scratch.
I need to set up several master pages and when I go edit the master and go to Layout > Margins and Columns, click the up/down arrows on the gutter width doesn't change. I can change, column number, margins, enable layout Layout Adjustment, but Gutter does nothing. Lock Column Guides is unticked.
As a temporary compromise, I've placed text boxes with columns on the masters, but I've used this feature for 10 years and it's really frustrating when core features get broken with updates.

Problems printing Futura Bold
Hi I have just had my computer upgraded and I'm running a current version of indesign.
Ive opened a document from previous version, all looks fine on screen, but when I print it (previously no problems) Futura Bold (and version of it such as Bold Oblique) default print. Now here is the strange part, if I change the horizontal width of the font, as little as 99% it prints correctly!
Also exporting the file as a PDF it looks and prints correctly!!
I use and have used this font a lot so changing the width on every document is just out of the question.
Its got be stumped.... any ideas people??

Indesign, insufficient memory to complete the operation
Hello,
when I try to export a file to JPG from indesign always appears a message that says "insufficient memory to complete the operation"
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but the problem remains the same, put the virtual memory managed by the system.
PC has 32GB of RAM, 1TB, cpu intel xenon E5-2620 2.40GHz, windows 7pro 64bit.
I can not work, can you help?

Set hyperlink to open in new window?

Is there a way to set a hyperlink to a URL to open in a new window in a pdf created in Indesign CC 2015?
I can't seem to find an option or way to set how the link opens.

Can't move objects or text boxes in inDesign CC
I was working on an inDesign document with no problem, and suddenly I was unable to move any objects or text boxes with the selection tools. I could only move them using my arrow keys. The objects are not locked and are not on a locked layer. This issue is now occurring in all my other documents, and creating a new document didn't help.
I found this discussion thread (Why can't I move objects and text boxes in Indesign CS5.5?), suggesting that I "trash" my inDesign preferences. I did that, and it didn't fix the problem. I also uninstalled, then re-installed inDesign, but that did not fix the problem either. I'm using a Mac OS X version 10.9.5.

InDesign freezes when selecting the file menu
I just updated to InDesign CC 2015 and find that when I have a file open and select the file menu, InDesign Freezes. It has also been freezing when trying to launch InDesign

Coloured bitmap tiff images shows only in black
I just upgraded to the latest version of InDesign (2015.4) and when I opened a document I created minutes before the tiff files I had coloured blue and white are black. When I export the file as a PDF the tiffs look fine. I haven't done any changes on the programs preferences, just opened up the file.
I am using InDesign on a late 2013, 27" Imac with OSX 10.10.5

Bug: Indesign defaults to High Quality viewing
I just downloaded the latest Indesign update, and when I open files it defaults to 'High Quality' view instead of 'Typical' view like it used to. I work with files that have very high res imagery and I have to sit and wait for every image to load (at High Quality viewing) before I can do anything, which kills my efficiency. When I try adjusting the preferences to 'Typical' viewing, it doesn't stick. Please fix this bug Adobe.

Creating a "flip book" from InDesign
Hi all! I have a client who wanted a "flip book" of a brochure I created for him in InDesign. I did some research, and figured out how to export it as an swf file. This does exactly what he wants it to do. But... in looking how to get it online, I read that swf files are passé. So... how do I create a "flip book" (so it looks like you're turning the pages of a book) without using SWF files from InDesign???
