Whenever I open an InDesign file located on my external drive, I get the following error: "Missing required parameter 'from' for method 'open'. The only way I can open InDesign files on my external drive is to go to File > Open from within the application. Any idea what this is about and how to fix it? I CAN double-click on an ID file on my desktop and it opens fine. I'm on a Mac, System 10.10.5.Error message

How to change the color of an object depending on the page it is
Hello,
I have a border in the mastro page that I would like to fill differently depending on the page. So for example at the beginning of the book it will be blue and by the end it should become red changing page to page from one color to the other.

InDesign installation requires a non existing app to close :?
Hi,
Due to my laptop crash, I am trying to install InDesign CC2014 on a new computer. However during the installation process I am asked to close InDesign C…(cut but probably CC2014). No application folder, no process in the activity monitor…
Problem is…it has never been installed onto the computer
Do you have any ideas ?

What is AIGPUSniffer?
Can anyone explain what AIGPUSniffer is, and why it launches briefly whenever I open an InDesign CC 2015 file? See attached dock screenshot. It's only open for a second or two, and makes the screen flash. I can see threads connecting it to Bridge, which I'm not using (or have installed). Please advice.

Navigation buttons appearance on certain pages only
I've made an interactive PDF file from only 2 master pages that contains navigation buttons. I need those buttons to appear only on certain pages through the document.
How should I do it? The only way I came up with is creating a buttons-less master pages based on the original and then apply them on the relevant pages.
Do you have any ideas? Kind of programming or script?

ich würde gerne Daten aus einer Exceltabelle mit Hilfe der Datenzusammenführung in einer InDesign Tabelle platzieren. Leider legt er mir aktuell für jeden Datensatz eine eigene Tabelle auf einer neuen Seite an.
Ich möchte aber gerne alle Datensätze in derselben Tabelle. Die Auswahl "Mehrere Datensätze platzieren" habe ich angeklickt es funktioniert aber trotzdem nicht.

Installed InDesign and most of the fonts are missing
We've installed the CC apps on several computers using the same installation package. On two of those installations, all of the apps work and all of the fonts are accessible. On the third, the apps all work, but they only have a couple of fonts installed. Is there a way to fix this? Or do we need to uninstall the whole thing, run a cleaner, and reinstall in hopes that it works this time?

Mail Merging Addresses
I'm producing a Letter with Address in, merging from an Excel document.
The problem I can't seem to resolve is how to merge the addresses WITHOUT the blank line spaces where there isn't something in a particular column.
In Microsoft Word, when merging, you can tick a box saying 'ignore blank cells' or similar

System Requirements for InDesign
I checked the System Requirements Page before buying and it says 10.6.8 is supported. After buying and upon attempting to download, I get a message that my system isn't supported anymore. I also don't get to chose a different version which would work with 10.6.8. Anybody out there with a similar experience and some advice?

Indesign suddenly stops progressing through start up. No error warning comes and it could appear that the error is from the welcome screen as it is loading but hangs during this.

leading problems
InDesign CC, Adobe Caslon Pro. I can't seem to change leading spacing. Is this because it's an open style font? Do I need to have a TT font in order to minutely adjust lead spacing?

Convert InDesign document to Google seachable online content
I have a 32 page magazine which I would like to post online and have the content available for google search - to bring more traffic to my website.
I thought creating a Flipbook might be the answer but apparently the content is not available to Google.
Exporting HTML from InDesign does not work very well at all.
Any suggestions? What is the best solution to this? I'm trying to avoid redoing it all myself in HTML - that would be a lot of work.

InDesign on non-persistent VDI requires reactivation after the image has been Rearmed

Our installation of InDesign CS6 was manually activated on our master image, but after we rearm the image and deployed via Citrix XenDesktop 7.6 as a non-persistent VDI, the application requires reactivation. Are there any guidelines as to how we should be installing/configuring it?

Anyone having trouble with double-click and triple-click text selection?
Since we updated to CC, I have a very good chance of this not working evey time I try it. Maybe 10% of the time, it will select the word/line as it should. My prefs are identical for this feature as they have for the past several version of InDesign. We have the same problem on two Macs here. My partner also has trouble with copy/paste in InDesign and Illustrator as well.
Anyone experiencing the same?

Lost fonts weight in placed text
When I import text in an Indesign document, font weights (i.e. bold, italic...) are lost, while other attributes (size, color, family font...) are o.k. I tried importing different files in different formats, saved with different applications, in different Indesign documents but nothing worked. I am on a mac, Indesign release 2015.1. Thanks a lot. Text Disappearing and limited Undos in InDesign CC
I recently upgraded to Creative Cloud. I have a iMac Processor 2.66 GHz Intel Core i5 I upgraded the OS to 10.9.1 a couple of months ago in preparation. In the InDesign 9.2 CC. My text randomly disappears while I am working on it. I have to click off it then click back where I think it is and send to the front to get it back. Sometimes just zooming in and out will bring it back or other various things. It is not actually deleting the text just the view of it, but I can't work on it if I can't see it. It is really annoying and cutting into my productivity. Has anyone else had this problem? Also, I am unable to do more than 1 or 2 undos where as in CS 5 I could do multiple undos. Is that normal for CC? Is there somewhere you can set the number of undos? I could not find anything under preferences. This is also a problem as I am used to being able to go back a few steps when I change my mind on something.
Any help on either issue would be appreciated.

InDesign won't let me save
Hello all,
I'm still relatively new to inDesign. I've been creating a newsletter about every other week -- simply deleting the content on the older, saved version to make the new one.
For some reason, this week, I can not save my draft. Every time I click 'save' or 'save as', it goes straight to 'Print booklet'. In other unrelated (or perhaps, related) matters, I am unable to use high quality display or drop caps. Don't seem to understand what's happening.
Any help is appreciated.
