Every time I select the type tool in InDesign CC on my macbook pro, it crashes. EVERY SINGLE time. Is anyone else having this problem?

Indesign crashing when I try to change document set up to facing pages
I am working in a 14 page file with 2 different master pages. The file opens like normal and I am able to edit etc. If I try to change the document to be facing pages the document crashes. Does anyone know why this is? I have already tried to copy the pages into a new document and save with a new name. I have tried to unlock everything from the masters and delete the master template. No luck. The IT department at my work wasnt able to figure it out so I am hoping someone can help me here. Thank you in advance.

Re: Why can't I see the Middle Eastern functionality on my verion on Indesign CS6?
Hi there. I just subscribed to Cloud CC and followed the directions. I selected English Arabic in my Adobe Application Manager and downloaded Indesign CC. However, I still don't see the Middle Eastern functions in Indesign. What did I do wrong? Please help.

InDesign, Illustrator for Windows XP
I'm trying to get back up to speed with Illustrator & InDesign, but have a Windows XP computer. (it works great, & I don't really want to try to bring it up to Windows 7 or 8.) how can I obtain an older version of these programs that will work under Windows XP?

Indesign Merge Excel files + consolidate file???
I merged 600 numbers from an excel document onto an indesign file and 67 documents with 9 copies of the indesign file with different codes. So the merge was successful, but I want to export these 67 documents into 1 pdf file to give to a printer to make them. I am running on CS5. What should I do?

Unresolved or out of date cross references in the document
hi, i was going to export my document into PDF for press and this massage "There are unresolved or out-of-date cross references in the document" showed up. I can't find out where the problem is, because ID signals no error in the document in the Preflight... i checked all the hyperlinks and converted them into text but it didn't solve the problem. any hints? thanks a lot

Package feature not finding all Links
I have a master Illustrator file which in turn has individual illustrator files placed in the master. The master is then placed in an InDesign document. When the package feature is used, the placed files to the master Illustrator file are not placed in the links folder, only the files directly linked to the InDesign document are included. Now I know it can work this way, I have a rather large project completed this way. I was wondering if the files have to be in a specific hierarchy to work right? Any thoughts?

indesign question
I copy an image from indesgn to photoshop but the wrong image shows up.
I paste an image to photoshop
then i was pasting another one and the second image kept it original shap the the image was of the image i pasted.
now my bottle of water looks like a loaf of bread in the shape of a bottle?
do i have something not set up right or is Indesgn not able to copy multiple pictures out and paste them to differnt programs?

Large word doc with poor formatting help please
Hi, I've got a 48 page word doc that was originally created in Lotus, and maybe ever converted to wrod-perfect for ms-word. I can place the doc, but I've got to resize the book to 4.25"w X 6"h. After that, as I've gone through and resized the text boxes I end up with oversize text, then when placing the overset text it come thorugh as the original size instead of the scaled down size.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be very appreciated.

InDesign CC responds slower than CS6 - any advice?
I've been using a trial of InDesign CS6 which ran smoothly for a month. Today I upgraded to InDesign CC.
I've only been using it today but there are detectable and annoying pauses when performing the following actions
Placing and relinking files
Exporting to PDF
Creating new files
Save as...
Anyone else experiencing this?
Using Windows 7 Ultimate
16GB Ram
64 bit OS
I have 250 GB SD drive for my software and a 3TB drive for my files.
I'm not great with the hardware so if I need to supply any other info please let me know!

InDesign CC performance ...
Hello! I have upgraded on Mac and Windows machines, which went well, no crashes, etc, but experiencing a few weird things. On both platforms basic performance is quite laggy. Just dragging a simple text box about the screen is chopppy like the old days! Also, I used to complain about InDesign's black text selection colour (ie, not system highlight colour), but it was always at least instantaneous. Now, there's a delay effect just selecting text, words and paragraphs both on Windows and Mac (and the selection colour on Windows is a bizarre dark teal blue). Are any others experiencing this? Moving Pages and Text Threads
Hello;
I used a technique I found on this forum (author Peter) for inserting pages from another InDesign file. Great, it was so much better than trying to copy and paste. However, by doing this, or because of this I am not sure, the pages in my original document don't "recognize" the additional new pages (from the source doc) in terms of the text thread.
Example: My original doc was 20 pages. All pages were properly threaded. I "inserted" (by using the "Move Pages" option in the Book) three (3) pages from another InDesign file at page 10 of the original file. Essentially, I added pages 11,12 and 13, pushing the original text to start up again on page 14. However, when viewing the Threads visually, the thread still goes from page 10 to page 14, bypassing the three new pages. I wasn't expecting this - I want these pages to be in the Thread.
This will be a problem if I need to add more text to any section before page 10. My expectation would be that all pages, including the newly added pages, would react to the additional text, and flow appropriately. If I am correct - and this is the problem - any additional text I might add would push page 10, and then page 14 and beyond, bypassing 11, 12 and 13 pages, as they are not threaded.
So, is there anyway to get these new pages into the proper flow, and be threaded?

InDesign CC scrolling slow
Hi,
I have a document with about 30 pages varing in size from 2'x4' to 15'x15'. Most of the pages are around 8'x4'. In inDesign CS 6 I could zoom around the pages as fast as my fingers could scroll (using the 2 finger jesture on a magic mouse or track pad). The new inDesign CC is painfully slow. It lags and crawls. It doesn't matter what "display performance setting" I have it on. It shouldn't matter anyway because CS 6 could go super fast with "high quality" selected. I have a MBPr running OS X 10.8.4. I've already made too many changes to go back to CS 6 which sucks because it was sooo much faster than CC. I'm starting to regret the upgrade. I trashed the preferences and restarted my machine. Is there something I'm missing? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hebrew and Arabic support in Adobe CC inDesign
Hi you all,
Need some help here...
I have projects that uses of Hebrew and Arabic.
I read here: http://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/using/arabic-hebrew.html that the middle east version has this support.
I have the US version of CC.
How can I get this support? must I buy another version of inDesign or the entire Creative Cloud?
Is there a way to download this feature\extension somehow?

Assigning shortcuts to paragraph styles
Hi all,
I am using InDesign CC trial version now and would like to buy it after using it for a couple of weeks. I couldn't assign shortcuts to Paragraph styles. Is it some restriction or my system problem? Could someone help me with this.
When I click the space provided for adding shortcut it doesn't throw any error message or I would say that I could click that text box and the cursor is blinking but I could I assign any shortcut.

Problem importing psd file into indesign.
I have CC and am trying to open a psd file in indesign but am getting the following message: Adobe indesign may not support the file format (ha ha); a plugin that supports the file format may be missing (yikes); or the file may be open in another app. I have confirmed that the third item is not true. Any help would be appreciated.

match pasteboard - only in normal view?
ID CC, Mac: In Pref. > Interface, Match pasteboard to theme colour seems to affect pasteboard only in normal view. Is this expected behaviour?

Auto find relink feature
Hello To all,
I have huge image libraries that tend to be updated an modified due to the nature of my industry.
InDesign cs4 had an auto find feature when you were relinking or looking for a lossed link file.
In cs6 its gone. Is it me or is it a feature Adobe has steered away from?

Indesign CS6 and relinking
Hello.
On a Mac (I haven't tried this on my PC)I have noticed a diference between CS5.5 and CS6 in regards to relinking files.
In CS5, when I would relink a file (or find a missing link), if the file with the same name of the file I was relinking was in the current folder I was in, the file would highlight - thus indicating the file is there and easily able to relink.
In CS6, however, the magic highlighting is gone. If you need to relink a file, and you search a large picture directory it can take awhile to find your file name and sometimes your file name is forgotten already when you press relink, even more at the top of the dialog box of your relink, the whole file name is not even shown. There is ellipsis and several of the characters and often I have files with similar names and it is hard to tell the difference.
I hope I am express the problem clearly.
And, I am hoping there is some help I can get on this!
