The Indesign label in the menu (above, left) is shadowed when the shortcut is typed.
But the rest of them are oK

Could be fixed in some way?

I am about to layout a Scientific report that needs to be printed for next month.
There are a lot of Math formulars that needs to be colorized in Indesign.
I have tried to save the Math type into a EPS. file which works fine, however my biggest problem is that I can't change the color. Is there somebody that can help me?
Am I having an exception or the rule? I'm running Windows 7, 32-bit. I've installed Creative Cloud and have both CS6 and CC. My first experience with InDesign CC today. I draw a text frame and can't see it. I place text into a text frame and don't see anything for 15 seconds. I haven't seen a text insertion cursor yet.
I can't be this slow in a program, so I saved the file as a IDML file. Then I tried to close InDesign CC. It warns me that a background task is going on and it will exit as soon as it can. I wait. Nothing. The message says to check the Background Task panel for the list of background tasks going on and the ability to cancel them. There is nothing in the panel.
I finally was able to force quit InDesign CC. I can work in CS6. But why am I paying a monthly fee for this? Am I missing something? Do I have an incompatible system? What on earth is going on?

How to separate overlapped text layers of indesign?

When I create documents in InDesign, I add the metadata info before exporting to PDF using File > File Info... The obvious advantage of this is that I don't have to manually add them in Acrobat each time there is an update to the document. I can't find any equivalent when working on InDesign books – am I missing something obvious?

When I attempt to convert my Indesign file into a pdf (no matter how I attempt it), it says that I am out of memory. This is impossible though. It has also said many other things, such as:
"Printing error: Error due to an out of memory condition."
"The exception unknown software exception (0xc000000d) occurred in the application at location ox78138aa0."
"Adobe Indesign is shutting down. A serious error was detected. Please restart Indesign to recover work in any unsaved Indesign documents."
and my all-time favorite, "Out of Memory."
Somebody help please.
A week ago, I installed IDCS6 upgrade on my Win7 laptop, just after creating a restore point. I installed only IDCS6 for now. My Adobe account confirms I purchased CS6 Design Web Premium upgrade six weeks ago, but doesn't say whether I registered or activated it. I assume I did both, though I barely tried IDCS6. This morning the laptop had trouble booting and I had to restore the system from the point just before I installed IDCS6, with no chance to de-activate. The laptop's CS5.5 suite seems fine, and the CS6 install package still sits there on the desktop. Do I need to contact Adobe before re-installing?
I'm not sure of the procedures here, and worried that if my laptop keeps acting up I'll jeopardize using CS6 on my main machine (still on CS4, though I plan to upgrade soon). Thanks in advance,

I installed InDesign CC (Mac, 10.7.5) and fired it up, but did not get the "migrate presets" dialog that appeared in Photoshop and Illustrator. Is there any way to manually start that process, or do we have to do it the hard way?

I am a new indesign cs6 user. I am sure there is a way to tag/mark a portion of text to create an index while I am creating a catalog. Can someone help with a link to a "how-to" video or an easy tutorial? Or if you have step by step instructions, that would be welcome too.
Lastly, is that index able to be exported to an excel spreadsheet?

I have spent hours with Adobe and HP tech reps and have not resolved the problem. Adobe said they could print my file on their Epson no problem. HP installed a generic driver and I still couldn't get a full print. Only a few elements would print. The only way I can print a copy is to make a PDF file. I didn't have to do that with CS3.
Any suggestions?

I'm currently using data merge to create a poster that lists award winners with their picture, name, and title in an orderly fashion. While data merge does this swimming, I was wondering if I can go back in and add images to the what data merge creates. For example I need to add logos and a Company title to the page and basically I don't want to manually rearrange the entire layout since data merge put everything spaced evenly and whatnot.
I basically want to know if I can have something on the page that Data Merge ignores and yet works around it if that makes sense. Think of it as a logo in the top right corner and I need all the rows and lists to continue on but not go over it or push it off the page. Or repeat it as part of the information.
I realize this isn't the most eloquently posed question, but any help is welcome and appreciated.

I am returning to working in InDesign for my book project after almost a year. Now, I am rusty. I can't remember many things I knew when I was working on it last October. One of the things I can't remember is the thing about section starts. In the example below, there is the little black triangle at page 100 and at page 110. Bot are starts of sections of the book. I have inserted spreads 108-109 and 112-113 and now I want that same 'start' on page 108 as I am starting a new (extra) 'chapter' of the book there.
Wen I right-click page 108 and select the 'Numbering & Section' options and say it is a new section, I get this warning:
And I am at a loss what to do now.
Can someone help me rememberhow this worked or point me to the 'refresher info' I obviously need?
Even though the files are not marked read only they open that way on any other computer. Has anyone had this problem and how did you resolve it?

We have a local competition, and I have to make certificates for all the winners in all the categories. I have 88 categories, 3 winners in each category, and a handful of ties. Thankfully there are only two variations for certificates, First Place and Top Ten. Unfortunately, there's no excel document.
I have a template from last year with a master page for each type of certificate, which I copy-pasted every (EVERY) category title and winner into and saved out as seperate PDFs. If I have to do that again, I think I'll cry.
What I'd like to do is create two types of box in each master page and automatically flow a list of categories into one and winners into another automatically creating new pages as they're needed. Like flowing all the text from a book into InDesign and having it make new pages as needed. I can't imagine this isn't possible. What's it called when you flow overset text into a new box on a new page? This is the problem with being self-taught. -.-;

In previous versions of InDesign, when you would export a pdf, the focus of the options box would be on selecting the page number. Now, in CC, the focus is on the left side bar. You have to hit tab three times to get to the page number. This may not seem like a big deal, but I create single page flyers from a large multi-page document all day long for our sales reps. I have been using the program for less than a day and having to this EVERYTIME is getting very annoying.
Is there an option to have the focus return to the page number by default or could the programmers revert this to normal behavior in a future update?
