We have Adobe InDesign CS6 installed on 2 different computers and on both computers it frequently crashes saying "cs6 has stopped working" and closes the application. Restarting it ok for a while and then the same thing happens. We have uninstalled and reinstalled to no avail, no other Adobe products are installed.

Apply Master to Odd Pages – Non Facing Pages Document
Hi,
Had a look on forums, but couldnt find the answer I was looking for. Got a 216 page document, which was created in 'Facing Documents' spread checked and templates for both left and right worked fine. Printer asked uncheck facing documents and wanted as a single page, which ive done, but its applied all the left page master. Is there anyway of applying the right page master to the odd numbers?

Automatic type-setting
I often have magazine designs where I need the body copy of an article to have a different font weight and colour as it flows from WOB on a background photo to white-on on a plain page. Is there a way to instruct InDesign to make these changes as the text flows from one text box to another? This would save me a great deal of time resetting type after copy changes have altered the runout.

Overrided Paragraph Styles: Three different states instead of logical two.
Hi there,
I am curious to find out why there are three states of paragraph style instead of two:
State 1: Clear paragraph style: Everything understandable. Style is applied to paragraph. No conflicts.
State 2: Paragraph with applied Paragraph Style has been infected by some additional changes. There is 2× "+" sign beside name of the Style and beside name of Style in the header of the Paragraph Styles Palette. All clear to me so far.
State 3: Paragraph with applied Paragraph Style has been infected by some additional changes. There is just 1× "+" in the header of the Paragraph Styles Palette.Confusion.
So my question is: What difference is between States 2 and 3?

Problem with sublayers.
Currently I am using the school's machine to make the year book of the school. So I only have InDesign CS4 in my hands.
The layers panel works fine with all the layers, there is just this problem that the triangles where you can go to the sublayer isn't there.
Here is there an example of what it should look.
This is how it looks like.
I know the first picture is from CS5 but I have seen pictures where CS4 also have the ability.

Find Change window too large and I cannot make it smaller
In Indesign CC the find/change window is continually resizing. This happens when I place a larger block of text into the find or replace field. After a few such changes I end up with a window as wide as my screen. I am able to get rid of it by restarting Indesign and resetting the preferences at restart. This is not a solution. How can this window be reduced in size or better yet set to remain at a fixed size.
I am operating on a Mac with system: 10.10.2

Smart Guides Turning Off - Can't Turn Back On!!
I love the smart guides and use them all the time... unfortunately my smart guides have been turning off (I'm either inadvertently doing something, or this is a glitch or something going on) but after using smart guides on a document it all of sudden stops working. The only way I've been able to negotiate around this problem is by opening a new document and just copying my old materials in there and moving forward like that. That's a pain and and also doesn't explain what's going on!!!
When I go View> Grids & Guides ... smart guides is selected but the option is grayed out and I can't change it even if I want to. I'm really not sure what's going on here. Using CS6
Any help is much appreciated!!!!

Pasteboard showing through certain pages?
Hello all --
Have a bit of a dilemma here. Using Indesign CC 2014, and for some reason a few spreads on my 108PP document have encountered this problem. Many of the pages remain with a white background and regular grey pasteboard, but a handful of these have now gone transparent and showing through to the pasteboard. The pages in question also won't apply any of the guidelines and grids (baseline etc) in the master applied to the page? Quite concerned, can anyone advise?
I've tried deleting and replacing the pages which have 'greyed out' but this causes inDesign to crash and force quit.

Create an index from multiple InDesign documents
Wondering if it's possible to generate an index from multiple InDesign documents or do I need to join the separate documents up into a 'book' first?

Missing font issue - even though the font is installed
Hi,
I have a InDesign document with a EPS link in it. This EPS contains a mathematical equation, which is created with the font called 'System (T1) Medium'. When I open the InDesign document it says that the font is missing (in the 'Find Font' dropdown) and the equation's mathematical symbols are replaced by a different font showing wrong symbols.
The font is installed and the EPS file shows up correctly when viewed in Illustrator.
What can I do from here? I use Windows 8 and InDesign CC.

I can open my new InDesign files by going up through the menu and opening that way, but when I try to just double click on an InDesign file I get error messages telling me that certain plugins aren't available.
I upgraded my Mac a few weeks ago to 10.10.2 Yosemite, and I joined the Adobe cloud so I could get access to all the new apps. I read a blurb somewhere about converting older InDesign files to the new CC version I'd have to open the old files in my old InDesign CS3, export to an ins file, then open that file in the new InDesign CC, then export it again to an idml file, then open that file and you shouldn't have any of the usual conversion problems. For the first few files I had to convert, it worked just fine. Now for some reason, whenever I try to open one of these converted files just by double-clicking on the file itself, I get an error message that says, "The document ____ uses one or more plug-ins which are currently not available on your system. Do you want to open anyway?" When I click OK, then I get another error message that says, "Cannot open ____. Please upgrade your plug-ins to their latest versions, or upgrade to the latest version of Adobe InDesign." I thought this CC version of InDesign was the newest. Can somebody please tell me what gives with this? Any help will be very much appreciated.

PDF/A-1b compliant PDF from InDesign exported PDF
Hi folks. I need to produce a pdf/a-1b compliant pdf from an InDesign document and it is giving me fits. Because InDesign offers no native option to export pdf/a-1b compliant files, I have been exporting my document with the available presets (I've tried all of them), then running the pdf/a-1b conversion in Acrobat. However, this conversion fails every time, usually on font subset and colour issues depending on how I set up the initial export from InDesign. The only way I have managed to get a file to pass the conversion is to export from InDesign, save that pdf as images, rebuild the original pdf from the image files, then run the pdf/a-1b preflight from Acrobat. Trouble is that this results in a serious loss of resolution that I can't have for my purposes. Anyone have any ideas on how I can produce a pdf from InDesign that will pass the pdf/a-1b preflight in Acrobat?

file will not export to PDF
I am creating an InDesign book composed of multiple placed PDF files. Whenever I go to export this book as a new print PDF, I keep receiving an error message that says "1 problem (1 failure) was found with a background task: Failed to export the PDF file." I have narrowed it down to one particular PDF within the book that seems to be causing the problem. However, I don't really know enough about PDF files to determine what the problem actually is. Does anyone have any idea what may be going on here or have any other things for me to look into to provide further information? Thanks!

Fit Frame to Content
Indesign CC 2014.2 Release
When I want to adjust frame to text, I always use the "Fit Frame to Content" shortcut (Alt + Command + C) on my Mac.
Sometimes it fits the Height of the frame to the content, and sometimes it also fits the Height and the Width, but I cannot figure out why sometimes it does one thing or the other....
Is there an extra step to Fit Frame to Content?
What are the conditions that the text has to meet to be either fitted vertically only or vertically and horizontally?

Format Type Does Not Appear. Can Only Export to PDF from InDesign.

Please help with an Indesign Post Card Problem!
Greetings! I am in need of some help! I am trying to create a post card in InDesign and then send it to a printing company. I sent my finished product to the company and they stated that it would not work out well. The font is too small, pictures are too fuzzy, dimensions are off, etc... I am confused because after reading and researching how to create a 4x6 post card in Indesign, I am still doing something wrong. Please, please help! Thank you for your time.

How can I get my Indesign to output a pdf 8.625 x 11.125, if I setup within my document to have a 0.125 bleed on the edges and it outputs the file in the size 8.75 x 11.25?

Edge Pixelating Problem
Has anyone seen this in InDesign before? The top lines are vector art but the bottom is pasted graphic (according to the layers pallet). Where the pieces meet it has rasterized the background, causing this effect. What would cause this? And how to fix this?
