I have a facing pages A4 landscape document of 70+ pages. Inserting an odd number of pages anywhere in the document causes weird things to happen. Inserting an even number of pages is fine.
Unfortunately I need to add one page here and there, and at the moment it is impossible as everything just jumps around.
How do I get rid of this?

I worked on a file in InDesign yesterday and today my current files are not there. I saved, I searched. Anyone know what else to try?

Question: When I draw a shape using the Rectangle Frame Tool it shows the blue X across the frame in the pages bar to the left but not in the document. I would like for it to show in the document so I would be reminded that there is a Rectangle Frame there. Is there a way to turn this on?
I have an .indd file for a book I wrote. If I buy InDesign, can I edit it. Is it like a MS Word file and contain everything in a single file, or are there supporting files, such as images or fonts? I do not any of the support files if they are required.
I am trying to insert an image using indesign and it comes up with a missing plug in error, (stopping the image from loading) can anyone help please?
I'm using Win Indesign CC 2014.
I would like one paragraph to have optical margin alignment. But I would like all the rest to not have it.
It seems as though if I turn it on, that it applies optical margin alignment to the whole document.
Is there any way to have it apply to just selected paragraphs, or have I just missed something?

I'm working on a project for school and my teacher emailed me a jpeg and a word document with text for a page layout. I downloaded them and then uploaded both onto a new indesign cc document, and the text came out looking like this:

I am creating a booklet for a client where I place a Microsoft Word document into a text box and then format the text. I have done this same process countless times in the past, but this time as I'm in the middle of cut/pasting and formatting the text, all of my text frames lock up. I cut text out of the text frame with the placed text and I can no longer select anything. It basically acts like the frames are locked, but they are not. If I change to the selection tool after I cut the text and try to click and drag to select a frame, I notice that pulling up the Edit drop-down menu, I have the option to Undo Move Item, but I'm not seeing that I have moved anything.
I am using InDesign CC version 9.1 on my iMac Mid 2010 running OS X 10.9.1. I have quit InDesign and started it back up again, I also tried deleting the Cache and Preferences folders (after quiting InDesign and starting it back up again), I have also shut down my computer and started it back up again. None of these fixed the problem.
Any help would be appreciated.

InDesign CS6 won't open some files. No error message, simply returns to previous 'Open...' view. I've tried restarting, rebooting, resetting my InDesign preferences and re-unzipping the original zip file. I can still open previously worked on files, though. (Even in the second folder of unzipped files, it's the same files that I can and cannot open.) Any ideas? InDesign
I don't necessarily mean magazines about print (which is still welcomed), but magazines with beautiful layouts and typography regardless the topics.
Why have page numbers disappeared from a section of the document? Those pages now have bold lines around the right page, bottom and one that extends down the center. When I try to export, the pages appear blank in a pdf. HELP PLEASE!
I'm working on a project that is 182 pages long. I need two of those pages to be slightly larger than the rest. Is it possible to do this?
Several pages now have bold lines around outside right edge, bottom and center of document. This bold line is also in center between pages in spread. None of the pages are showing automatic page numbers, and when I try and export to pdf, the pdf is blank. What have I done to create these bold lines? Why are pages not showing? Why does pdf appear blank?

I have a problem with InDesign CS6. I created a book with index. I'm sure that all the index items are correct. The problem is with the destination of the index links. I want it to go to the title as the bookmarks and cross-reference but it only goes to the page.
For example. if I have the title "Tips and tricks" at the end of page 20, when I click this title in the index, it goes to the top of page 20 not to the title itself.
Can anyone help with that?

I have a document that has to be mixed double (text) and single spaced (quotes, headings).
I would like the distance between the headings and text to be single spaced.
However, InDesign appears to add the leading BEFORE the lines of text rather than after. The headings are starting out a huge distance from the double spaced text. InDesign will not allow me to add negative space before.
Is there any way to reduced the space before a paragraph to less than its leading?
Is there any way to keep InDesign's heading numbering from adopting the style of the first character in the line?
I have some headings that start with italics but I want the numbers to be consistently in roman.
help I get error 131:1 plus when pressing control d to place an image I get cannot place this file no filter found for requested operation. Very frustrating. Please advise.
