Indesign 2018 Crashes on Launch

HI,

 

I have installed Indesign 2018 on my new PC (works fine on my laptop), however it constantly crashes when launching.

 

I have read other forums and none of the fixes seem to help.

 

I've tried running as administrator,uninstalling/reinstalling, installing bug fixes as previously described but all to no avail.

 

All other Adobe CC programs run perfectly but Indesign keeps giving me this:

Anchored object creating outline when I copy/paste... HELP1

I have an anchored object in a set of text that I am copying over from one Indesign document to another. However, every time I go to paste it, it creates a black outline around my anchored object. Why is this is happening?? There is no object style applied to the anchor. I've been deleting the outline every time, but this is becoming cumbersome to do every single time. Is there something I can turn off etc. so that it does not create an outline around my object every time I paste it into a new doc.? Thanks.

How to Deselect an item from a group selection

Is it just me or is it etremely hard to deslect an item from a a selection of multiple items:

For example if I drag cursor to pickup text boxes, background boxes, and then click+hold shift) to deselect one of the items -

most of the time, the item I am focusing on, or clicking, does not get deselected, but something else does.

 

This works a hell of a lot better in Illustrator (i.e. it actually works) whereas in InDesign it just aint happening

 

What am I missing?

Indesign CS5 won't run after reinstallation

Yesterday, it asked me to reactivate the software, but I was unable to activate via the internet. I contacted a support specialist via chat who told me to reinstall the product. after doing so, now the product shuts down immediately upon startup. please help.

All CC Libraries completely disappeared

Please help!

All my libraries are gone - even when I login online - it's as if they never existed.

They we all ok this morning and now completely gone. I've restarted, etc. and still nothing.

Running macOS High Sierra 10.13.5 and CC 2018

CC Libraries not showing up

Yesterday (following a very brief power failure), my CC apps lost access to the CC Libraries. I am most concerned about InDesign, since I'm working on a big project that uses images in my CC Libraries.

When I hover over the CC image in the lower right corner of the panel, it says "Creative Cloud Application not installed." Well, it is installed. So, when I click Get it now!, Adobe opens in my browser, and I'm already signed into the account. I click the Download prompt, and a new page opens saying that the Creative Cloud Application is installed. Then, the Creative Cloud Application from my desktop opens, and I can see all the Adobe apps I've installed. (Everything installed is up to date.)

 

I've read many other forum threads concerning this problem, and I've followed instructions to solve the problem, but nothing has worked. I've signed out of the desktop CC Application. I've uninstalled InDesign and re-installed it. I've restarted the computer, too.

 

I have multiple screens, so I can open my account at creative.adobe.com on one screen, and I can see the images in my Library at the same time that InDesign on the other screen can't see the Libraries.

Text suddently appears bold after image insertion

After inserting an image (file type does not seem to matter - jpg, psd, etc.), the text on the same page as the placed image suddenly appears bold, though when highlighted and checked still reads as "regular" under the control panel.  When a PDF is generated, the text still looks bold.

 

This seems to happen randomly in the same document - sometimes it happens, sometimes not.

 

This document will not be printed but will be posted as a PDF online, so the appearence of the text is important.  How can I place an image and reverse the text looking bold?

Type disappears when editing in InDesign CC

When selecting type -- either placing the cursor in a text frame or double-/triple-clicking to select a word or line of text -- the selected text is momentarily invisible. Deselecting all makes it reappear, as does zooming in or out. However, it is difficult to edit text when you can't see it. This problem occurs randomly. I updated from CS5.5 about two weeks ago, and am running OS X Mavericks on a Mac Pro with 32 GB of memory.

New Document command not working

All of the sudden my Indesign is giving me an error box whenever I click File>New>Document or Ctrl+N

A blank error box appears and has %CCX_FNFT_DIALOG_NAME as the header. It won't let me create a new document.

I can still open an existing document however.

Any ideas?

Indesign CC 18 проблема

ДД! Помогите пожалуйста. В самой программе, при выделении текста, не могу сразу же начать писать, чтобы заменить его. Только со второго раза. Т.е. Написано "1234-01" выделяю "1234" начинаю писать "4567", он мне заменяет на "567", т.е. первый символ он не ставит. Огромная просьба помочь. Так подозреваю где то в настройках стоит какая то галочка, которую надо убрать. В предыдущей версии такой проблемы не наблюдалось.

Text immission

Hello everybody,

 

     I'm stuck with a problem using Indesign CC2018 on Windows 10.

When I select the text i want to modify i have to type the first letter of the first word of the phrase one time before it takes it (so i have to press the button twice).

It's like a text protection, but i don't want it, i tried to search in the preferences boxes but I found nothing.

How can i do to solve it?

Centre spread pages

Hi, is there a way to highlight or lock the centre spread so that when pages are moved, inserted or deleted, InDesign automatically marks up the two "new" centre pages?

 

In pages view would be really useful, or just in the document. Only to view while editing, not to appear in the final publication.

Exporting even 1 page includes all bookmarks?

Sorry if the subject is not clear enough.

 

How can you export only the bookmarks that match the pages you're exporting? For example, 1000 page document with a TOC that generates the bookmarks in the PDF. If you only need to export say, pages 800-1000, the PDF still includes ALL of the bookmarks, not just the bookmarks used within those pages. Is there any way to change this?

Drop Cap Paragraph style for both 1 and 2 characters

Hey there.
I created a nested style that creates a paragraph border (teal) + a drop cap and a subsequent bold style. And it's working quite fine with 2 digit drop caps, my problem starts when the number has just 1 figure, as it completely gets out of proportion as you can see in the image attached (see "1").

 

Also, if someone has any suggestion to add an ENTER after the drop capped number to the whole nested style it

will be greatly appreciated, as for the moment, whenever I apply the paragraph style I get something like the "22" in the image and in order to make it look like "24" I need to press SHIFT+ENTER after the number.

 

I'm a regular ID CC user, but I'm not an expert so any help will be much appreciated.

Find text using "Font Style"

Hi,

 

This is an general question regarding InDesign  Find/Change.

 

In my InDesign document, all the texts are having the font "Bembo std" and style as "Regular"

 

When I do the Find text option using the "Find Format->Basic Character Formats->Font Style"  as   "Book", all the  Regular style texts are also selected.

Is this a bug in InDesign CS6 ?

 

Can i get any help on this query.

Show/Hide not hiding

I have an InDesign doc that has a button with a rollover state. The button also has an Action to Show/Hide another button. When I make the PDF the rollover works and initially the 'Show' part works but the 'Hide' doesn't – the item just stays there!

 

Any ideas?

 

Solved it. I didn't realise that I needed to set up a Roll Off state to 'Hide' the button. Seems a bit unintuitive to me but at least I got there in the end.

How do I update plugins for CS4?

I had to reinstall inDesign CS4 on a new computer, (Win10). It worked fine on my old PC (Win10). Now when I try to open documents that I created with CS4, I get an error message that I am missing several plugins. How do I update them? I've tried to update them through the program, but it says there are no updates. What do I need to do to be able to use this program?

I edit a small newspaper. Sometimes I may find I need a half - inch or more to fill at the end of a column or story. Is it acceptable to increase the leading to fill the extra space?

 

Also, what size type do newspapers normally use?

Word version of Letterhead,

I need help.

I know nothing about word.

A new client that we did a 2 color Letterhead in InDesign and printed wants his Letterhead in Word Format.

I tried something - PDF, exporting and nothing seems to work.

His exact words - the information at the bottom of the page cannot be kept there in order to accomplish what we need so be it but it done quickly if possible.

Can someone help or advise me?

Include crop marks around object in doc

An urgent issue!

 

How do I include crop marks around an object in document. I have multiple square labels for an exhibition set up through the guide that we are going to print on a single sheet and cut down, so I need to be able to mark where the printer needs to cut.
