I've reference a couple chips from the Pantone + Series booklet. When attempt to type in the value within the Swatch Palette it displays the wrong color, and it will not accept the correct color.
I've attached a screen grab of this issue with Pantone 2442 U.
Is it possible to exclude pages from page numbering? I am working on a book of poetry and want to use the page number as an automatic numbering schema, leaving the recto page blank and unnumbered.
This problem is on a iMac with El Capitan (10.11.6).

Hi all,
Is there an 'asset export' feature in indesign (similar to the new illustrator 'asset export')?
Long story short, I need to take certain elements from my design and supply these as pngs to give to a developer.
I can do this manually by selecting the object > export > png > selection – however I would prefer a more organized way of doing it that would keep the name of every asset created and automatically update any changes I make to that asset.
Is the answer something to do with 'articles' panel?

InDesign crashed and when I re-opened it, I only gives me older versions of files that I did save. I've just lost hours of work. Is there any way to recover the more recent versions of the files before the crash??? Help! I'm on a deadline. This is not good!

I have a project that is due and I'm not finding a solution online. I created these step by step gifs to showcase how our applications work. Now they want an interactive PDF. I converted my gif files into MOV files (I even tried MP4 but I'm still have the same issues). When I export the document it literally plays the whole file really really fast and then when you select the play button it doesn't really do anything. I've been trouble shooting all day and I'm starting to feel defeated.
I have the problem even when I unselect "play when page loads"
My gif files were little frame by frames that played maybe 1-2 seconds long depending on the object.
If anyone can help I will give you a virtual high five and you will have the pleasure of knowing that I might not jump off the 21st floor of this building.
Now that I've done a clean install, and removed CC from my work computer, I'm trying to update ID 5.5. However, it gets to about 13% of the updating, and then tells me that Adobe.exe is running and I must close it to continue updating. I cannot find anything with that name on this computer.
I've been able to update this program at home with no issues, so I'm wondering what's going on here.

I'm after some advice on the best way to display formatted source code within an InDesign CC 2015 document.
To give a little background: I've been working on a programming book in my spare time, and as such it contains a vast amount of source code (in JavaScript). I've authored the book using MarkDown, so the code is formatted with markdown code tags.
I'm aware that InDesign has no concept of MarkDown, so I'm prepared to take the content through another step before I import it. But I'd really like to know if anyone here has gone through the process of formatting lots of source code before, and if so, what is the easiest way to do it? Perhaps I need to convert the code snippets into another format first (PDF? using the likes of Panadoc?) before importing. Or if there's a better method?
To be clear I'd like a way to incorporate both large blocks of text, and also display code in-line with the book text, and retain the colour formatting that all code editors have.

I have an amateur sci-fi newspaper. I write and design it.
When I say "object" I mean a group of elements that work together. E.g.: A title, the reporter's signature, the text, and other elements (like graphic elements for some special objects, like opinion or illustration).
I keep these objects at a master page, but as new formats are appearing, it's getting a little cluttered. I thought about opening a new master page and copy-pasting the new formats there.
Where I work they have a custom built software that you input a "figurine" (that's what they call it) and it pastes the required object with everything in place. E.g.: if I need a 5 column title, I'd type "title5col" at the software and it would paste this pre-formatted object, with the title box, the subtitle box, the signature box and the text box, with the right sizes and spacing between the boxes.
Is there any plugin or other that does something like that? That stores my objects and I can call them when I need them, instead of copy-pasting every time from the masters?

I'm creating a few interactive PDFs from Indesign using buttons and bookmarks. I have 40 pages that need to be in two separate PDFs. So the same set of pages/content needs to be in two PDFs along with other interactive content. When I started the project I thought I'd be able to create a PDF for those 40 pages and then just drag those pages into the two PDFs using Acrobat. But when doing so, the bookmarks don't copy over, and the buttons still try to reference the bookmark/destination in the original file.
I have also tried to copy/move the pages in Indesign but the same thing happens, the buttons remain but the bookmarks don't carry over.
I've tried to alter my linking method to use hyperlink destinations instead of bookmarks, but the same thing happens.
I also tried linking out to this PDF using the "open file" command from a button, but I need this to stay in full screen mode and there was a glitch with full screen mode when trying to load another PDF.
Right now the only solution I can see is recreating the pages in two Indesign files which has the other content for each PDF.
Suggestions?
Help! I did the upgrade on the creative cloud and all was well. I used InDesign yesterday after the update. Today I turned on my computer, opened the program and my entire document is blue highlighted. Looks like it does when your fonts are missing with the pink. Help!! How do I get it off?!
I no longer have the options for Press Quality or High Quality Print in exporting a PDF. Is that intentional? Can I get them back?

InDesign CS5.5 on a iMac running Yosemite 10.10.5. Did a book layout for a client a year ago and all worked fine. Just now wanting to reopen the file and get the Roman.txt file missing and cannot open the app. Recommendation is to download and reinstall. Did so but now my serial # won't work.

My print presets delete after every crash or force quit as well as my interface preferences within InDesign CC. However, my workspace does not reset. My entire Cloud has been deleted and reinstalled to no avail. Adobe IT was also called and the response I got was 'that is normal' even though I'm sitting next to 7 other designers who have not experienced this issue.
As I was working on a project, the background suddenly when black and my guides wont show even though it says they are not hidden. its almost like it is in preview mode but I can still move my images and all the options are there. can anyone tell me how to fix it?
Standard short keys like Shift, Alt+Shift, Cmnd+Alt+Shift, are not working for my InDesign Program. I have the latest version of CC. I have uninstalled, and re-installed the program on my Mac. It still will not work. These short keys work in Illustrator, but not in InDesign. What is going on?
I am working with a client who is trying to do a directory in Indesign. There are about 1,800 people with information like address, title, employer, phone, etc. This info is on an Excel spread sheet. I made a text, tab delimited and a CSV file from the spreadsheet. I set up a two column text box on each page and want these entries to fill the columns. I am only able to get one person's information per page. Multiple records per page yields no different result. I also had the multiple records option grayed out on a couple tries. I have tried this many times, even tried setting up a simple spread sheet with 9 items. No luck. HELP! I'm brand new to this feature.
