CC Libraries InDesign

CC Library InDesign has stopped working, I can see all my files Photoshop and Illustrator CC Libraries but ID only has one file and if i click on CC Library InDesign I get blank boxes popping up i have spent a lot of time with Adobe Support but I am just going around in circles.

It is my understanding that CC Libraries should be available across the Adobe apps that support it, every time i say this to Adobe support they say I only have one file in InDesign.

All i would like to be able to do is to access these files in InDesign to save me having to re-invent the wheel each time I need to use these files which i need on a daily basis.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

workspaces (workspace files) not read or not working

Hello.

In InDesign CS 5, I set up a new workspace. The according file appears where it should (user Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign/Version 7.0/en_GB/Workspaces) as an .xml file like all the others. The file starts and ends like any other .xml file in that folder. However, when choosing it from the Window / Workspace menu, InDesign consistently chooses a different, and always the same workspace (namely that on top of the list).

This happens with one of the workspaces I set up. It doesn't with another.

Moreover, I copied a number of workspace files from an older backup into the workspaces folder. Very few of them show in the InDesign menu. The others don't. Equally those that show start and end exactly like those that don't.

(I could post an example of either of them.)

Any idea why? Thanks

/ Edit: I realised that the newly set up file does gets read when I change its name so that it appears higher on the list. I then removed all _CurrentWorkspace files that had no basic workspace file to refer to (my mistake in copying), which seems to have solved the problem. Maybe that's actually the cause. In that case, this would be form whom it may concern.

Either the file does not exist, you do not have permission, or the file may be in use.

I'm going to raise this as a separate issue because I think that, ultimately, it is this error that is causing me so many problems in InDesign.

Scenario...

New Document > Drag a CC Library item into the document > Save the document and close InDesign > Open document, error appears...

"This document contains <number> links to sources that are missing.  You can find or relink the missing links using the Links panel."

When attempting to relink the missing links...

"Either the file does not exist, you do not have permission, or the file may be in use."

When deleting the link from the document and attempting to reinsert it from CC library...

"Either the file does not exist, you do not have permission, or the file may be in use."

This all becomes a major problem when we try to output the document to PDF, which is what our printer requests.  The link items are given a white background and they are of poor quality too.

Is this a known bug?  I see quite a few posts about this, dating back to 2012!, but no solutions to date.

Hope someone can help.  Thank you.

Sequential superscript numbers or possible footnote help?

Hello all,

I would like to use the numbers footnotes provide (sequential and automatically change when you add another footnote) but I don't want the footnote. I want to put in chapter notes.

Is there an easy way to do this in InDesign? I would rather not have to go through and hand number all of these in superscript manually and reorder them as necessary.

Many thanks!

How do you get it to highlight the "Created with ... " fonts ?

Indesign 2015. Under type/find font, and expanding the more info shows the font version.

Example:  One font's info says ---  Version:  11.0d2e1  (Created With - 9.0d1e1)

The "highlight substituted font" box IS ticked in preferences.

InDesign is NOT highlighting this "created" -- rather substituted font.

It's not creating anything --- it is borrowing 11.0d2e1 out of Apple's system font folder to substitute without highlighting where it does it.

How do you make it highlight this decision?

The original is the 9.0d1e1

Indesign 2014 Version 10 would flag it all pink with a muddy substitute.

It is not highlighting the "Created with ... " fonts

How to find this?

Hi,

As a consequence of using a special font i.e diacritic — the style of such will be different.

My question is:

Is it possible to find all the special character at once? — which is contained in such a diacritic font.

How?

InDesign CC for web design?

$

When I was learning web design, photoshop was the go to program. I work in a primarily print-oriented environment and InDesign is used for everything design related. Besides this all "feeling wrong", I ran into a weird situation between the two applications, that maybe someone can help me understand the why. I already have a work around solution, I'm just looking for better understanding of why.

Recreate problem:

1. Create new document in InDesign (web, 990 x 270 px)

2. Create new document in Photoshop (990 x 270 px @ 300dpi)

3. Fill photoshop layer with pattern (Edit > Fill..)

4. Save photoshop as jpg at Maximum settings

5. Place jpg in InDesign (File > Place...)

Results

I expected that the Photoshop created jpg would simply match the size of the InDesign document, however even though both documents have the same dimension, the jpg comes into InDesign considerably smaller than expected. Increasing the dpi on new Photoshop documents and repeating the fill procerss further decreases the dimensions when brought into the InDesign document.

I have an Abode Cloud subscription. InDesign, which I use all the time, did not open this morning. My Illustrator files open and operate just fine. The support person in India has been of little help.

Place anchored object behind text?

$

Hello everyone.  I am using InDesign CS6 on an iMac with 10.9.2.  After reading several other posts, I've managed to get my anchored object in the exact position I want, except it's OVER the text.

Attaching two images:

- WHAT I WANT TO SEE:  Red box behind white text. (The box is not an anchored object here; I just pasted the red box and sent to back.)

- WHAT I HAVE USING AN ANCHORED OBJECT:  Red box perfectly placed, but over the text. I placed the object right before the text and shifted it using the anchored object options, but... I can't "send to back".

Note:  All text is in one text box, in an "outline" format, and the line of text that I want the object to be behind has a paragraph indent. I would want the red box to flow with the words "COMPANY OWNED" as text changes are made.

I hope to use this technique throughout a multi-page manual. Is it possible to do what I want, and if so, what am I doing wrong?

Master Spread is shown on top of page

Hi,

I have a document with pages and a master spread. Inside indesign the masterspread objects are shown behind the objects in the pages.

When I export to Publish Online everything is fine and the master page is shown behind the objects in the pages.

But when I export to interactive PDF the master page objects are shown ON TOP of the objects in the pages.

Things i've tried to make the master page behind all the other objects.

1. Create 2 layers, make sure the objects on the master page is under the layer with the other objects.

2. choose the objects in the page and arrange them to be in front.

Nothing helped. Any ideas? I have found nothing on this.

Thanks

Apply alpha channels

Is there any way to apply (activate?) an alpha channel to an image, other than on import?

I am using two stacked images for a special effect, the bottom one without an alpha channel and the top one with, and would like to be able to apply an alpha channel to the image without having to replace the image each time. Clipping paths in Indesign will not work, I can't have hard edges.

Interactive PDF: Rollover button state no longer working properly ???

$

Okay, what's going on with the Interactive PDFs lately?

Now all my rollover buttons no longer work properly.  If I have a button that's simply a black arrow, and in the rollover state it's red.

No matter if I'm checking it out in the latest Acrobat Reader or Pro X, the rollover only works for a brief second..then reverts back to black - the original state.

This, combined with my latest problem with the show/hide button state, is really becoming a frustrating hassle:

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm running 7.5.1.

Is this an Acrobat issue?  The button function here seems to work in the InDesign preview mode.

Create an image crossover for a photo portfolio with 23mm of blank space on the inside of the spread

$

Hello,

I'm trying to lay out my portfolio in InDesign.

The book is a peg and post design to fit an 11"x14" page.

On the 11” side, the page needs to have an extra 23mm which will go into the mechanism to bind it. The page will then be scored at 25mm and 30mm so that it can lay flat.

When laying an image across a spread, how do I set it in InDesign to account for the lost 23mm on the inside of each page? I guess the image needs some crossover so that it will line up properly after binding the 23mm inside edge, but I can’t figure out how to do it!

Any help is massively appreciated.

Remove all paragraph styles and preserve formating

I have a delicate question. Is it possible to delete all paragraph styles and preserving the formating of the document? If you remove character style, there is an option to preserve formating, but it is not when deleting paragraph style. Thanks
