I'm a novice InDesign user. I would like to style pictures in a document like wiki pictures look like.
For example:
Is there a way to create a template (i really don't know) or an automated/semi-automated way so every time i place a picture i get this style?

Why don´t you deliver exam preparation materials for CC? Seems to me that we have had CC for quite a long time. I will also tell candidates that the "Classrom in a book" books/lessons are a great way of learning Adobe , but I think they don´t go deep enough when it comes to graduate for ACE
Hi all, i have to print some store vouchers with different logos, but too bad some of them are jpgs. I've set them to "multiply" with 60% opacity, and when I export to PDF, it actually shows pages as it should, but when I print them, these logos magically don't appear. What the heck am I failing? Attached screens of my working profile. Thanks!
Can't preview my InDesign files on my Mac using QuickLook – just moved up to Adobe CC on Yosemite from CS6 on Mountain Lion – anyone else having similar problems? It's a real pain when you've got thousands of files to search through

I'm new to InDesign and I just can't get the way Master Pages are supposed to work.
I though they were pages like the ones in Powerpoint or Captivate : you put placeholders on the page and format them the way you want, then when you create new pages based on those masters you just fill in the pre-formatted fields.
This is not the case in InDesign. Everything's locked ! What's the point ?
It's fine for background pictures, pages numbers and that kind of stuff but why would you put text and image placeholders you just can't edit ?
Of course, you can override item but you just lose link to the master page.
A simple example : I made a master page with chapter title on a line (white on a grey background) with automatic numbering and a block of text underneath.
Now, if I apply this master to a page, I just can't type in text, autonumbering is useless. I have to overide elements but what if I change title background color and decide text should be on two columns ? If I reapply Master on my page, I get modified stuff underneath overidden elements !
I hope you see what I mean and that you will give me clues to the best approach to InDesign master pages.

I am Using a MacBook Pro (2.6 GHz Intel Core i7 with 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3). Ever since Apples latest update to OS X Yosemite (10.10.2) I've had problems with InDesign CC 2014 not working correctly on my second Monitor (an Apple Cinema Display). For instance, When I size a window to fill a screen the top bar is hidden behind the menu bar, but leaves space down at the bottom of the screen. Also, whenever I try to insert an image using or anything else that requires a dialogue box that allows me to search for files, half the box is cut off by the top of the monitor and I can't move the box to an area where I can work with it.
Has anyone else had these problems? IF so, can you tell me how to fix them?
Hi. I'm having issues with the pdf after it has been exported. I have added bleeds to the design file and when I export it (and check the bleeds box in the exporting window) they do not show up. What does show up are these crop marks, which is strange because I have not selected 'show crop marks' when exporting.
I've included an example. On the left is what it looks like in Indesign and the right, the pdf
Any ideas would be appreciated. I have tried resetting my preferences and it did nothing.

I have problem in Exporting pdf file to save only the appeared layers only. when I export indesign file to pdf which contain hidden placed pdf layers, the problem pop up when I use search field in exported pdf file. search results hits text in hidden laye

Just wondered if this was possible. We're printing a cover with text that appears as a 5th colour foil which has a drop shadow. I would like to turn the text to none but keep the drop shadow visible.

My daughter talked me through rolling back the graphics driver. Then I installed a driver from the Intel site. Nothing has worked. Can someone please help? My newspaper is due at the printer in 8 hours!!
I'm using a Macbook Pro (upgraded to Yosemite recently) + Thunderbolt secondary display
When I opened inDesign today in my secondary display, I could not open any files nor quit the program. I got a warning that said there's a modal active in the app. I couldn't find the modal, even after moving everything around in my workspace and showing all windows, so I used the Activity Monitor to Force Quit. I googled this problem and found a solution, which is to press 'Escape'. That worked to get the hidden modal to go away so I could open a file, but open file dialog would disappear (from the display).
I tried moving the inDesign application to my macbook, and successfully opened a file. Once in the file, wherever I clicked, the document would scroll somewhat offset, toward the top and left. I was unable to make any selections. After multiple attempts (10+), I was able to make selections on the document 3 times.
* I tried this with Illustrator and Photoshop too. Illustrator was affected, but Photoshop was not.
* inDesign works fine if a create a new user, though.
Things I've tried:
- Uninstall all apps, restart, reinstall
- Uninstall all apps, Creative Cloud, run Adobe CC cleaner (oddly, I can't find the cc cleaner log), restart, reinstall
- Uninstall all apps, Creative Cloud, and remove user preferences, caches, and application support files, restart, reinstall
So far none of these has worked. If anyone could share any insight on this, it would be greatly appreciated.
i had a white object set as soft light on the blue background, the blue background is printed but not the white object, any ideas???
How do I export an Indesign file into separate pdfs showing each of the spot colours that I have used in the document? I am working on a Mac.
Hello, for a multilingual catalog project I would have to know how and with what tool I can place text from Excel or a database in text frames / tables. I created a publication based on a previous one. It's in a new folder with the default [fonts] and [lins] subfolders. Preflight shows no linking errors. Since there are numerous unused graphics in the link folder (from the old version), I wish to create a new package before sending to production. I get the above error with no explanation. How do I do this without manually copying every link (70) and font (46)?

I'm new to InDesign but not Adobe and would like to ask about best practices for layering images that contain transparency.
My current project is a children's book that contains a master background with the appearance of an old Victorian journal. (brown, stained etc)
My copy overlays this beautifully but I'm struggling to place the artwork.
What I would like to do is create some artwork in Corel Painter (for its beautiful watercoloring), export to Photoshop and then place the PSD in to the page in InDesign.
Exporting from Painter translates the 'gel' layer to 'darken' in PS. I can change this to Multiply no problem.
When I remove the base layer in PSD (a temporary brown page graphic) the previously water-colored layers have an awful white fringe.
When I place this file in InDesign there appears to be no way of 'multiplying' the layer over the nice brown artwork I have for the page and the awful white fringe remains.
Did I assume too much? I figured that applying layer attributes would be common throughout Adobe's software.
I appreciate that this may be more of a poor workflow issue than an InDesign 'fault', but I'm curious as to whether anyone has any similar experience / advice.
