ID 5.5 deleting pages and content without reflow

I'm designing a big book, and the author has decided to move the location of 10 pages of notes from the beginning to the end of the book.

No problem moving those pages to the end, but I can't for the life of me get rid of the pages from their original locations. Even when deselecting "Smart Flow" in Preferences/Type, the text wants to reflow. Because much of the book is poetry, some pages have different-sized text boxes, and I don't want to have to resize every single page because the program insists on reflowing everything.

Right now, I have blank pages (em-dashes with page breaks) in each of the pages I want to remove. I'd like to be able to just snatch them out & be done with it but the program doesn't allow it.

Can someone help me with this? I'm in InDesign 5.5 on a Mac.

Thanks,

Janet
