We bought a large format printer last year from the company that we buy copiers and service from. After we got it installed, I installed the print driver for OSX. Then I tried printing from InDesign but it wasn't working right so the guy had us install PosterArtist 2007 Lite which is Canons proprietary poster printing software on one of our PC's. Ok, fine, that works.
Well, that PC took a dump over the weekend and we had to get a new one. It came with Windows 8 and so we got the PosterArtist Lite software and installed it on that machine but we couldnt get the dang driver to install.
So, I figured that I would try to get it working on my Windows 7 PC in my office. I installed the driver and the PosterArtist software but when I open PosterArtist it says "No printer is available. Install the Canon imagePROGRAF printer driver that supports this application."
That PC can see the printer on the network. All the computers can see the printer on the network so I'm not sure whats up there. I guess the only thing I can think of is that the box that went down over the weekend was running WindowsXP and maybe PosterArtist 2007 is too old to work with the Windows 7 print driver. Hell, I don't know.
So, I guess what I want to know is, does anybody else print directly to a imagePROGRAF Canon printer directly from InDesign without having to use some lame Canon poster software?
