CS6 doesn't see links like previous versions did

I'm starting a new thread on this because people are cluttering the other thread with posts that are not addressing the issue.

Relinking missing images IN ALL VERSIONS PRIOR TO CS6 on a MAC:

1) Highlight missing link in links palette

2) "Search for Missing Links in This Folder" is CHECKED AS DEFAULT

3) I go to folder with the file I want to relink to.

4) InDesign highlights the file IMMEDIATELY

5) I click OPEN and it links to that file and finds other missing links within that folder

As an added bonus, if I had already found missing links with a file, InDesign would remember their locations if I opened ANOTHER file using the same links. Even though the links were missing from the original locations for BOTH files.

It was wonderful, it was fast, everybody who uses InDesign loved it, so don't pretend it wasn't there.

If you don't know about that you should move on to another forum and not waste our time.

Relinking missing images in CS6 (same operating system, same machine) :

1) Highlight missing link in links pallette

2) "Search for Missing Links in This Folder" is NOT checked as default, this makes no sense

3) I go to folder with the file I want to relink to.

4) InDesign DOES NOT HIGHLIGHT the file even though it's sitting there in the folder, so I have to search through the list of files and hopefully click on the correct one.

5) I click OPEN and it links to that file and finds other missing links within that folder.

Also, CS6 has no memory of the location of the same files which are linked to another open document, all earlier versions did.

An informed solution will be greatly appreciated.
