Question about creating a "List of Figures"

Hi,

I am trying to create a list of figures using the Table of Contents feature of ID CS5. I created a paragraph style to populate the list of figures but I am struggling with how to limit the amount of text that is shown in the list of figures. For example: Figure 1 is a map of traditional indian territory and the map has a text box under it with a caption that says - Figure 1 - Traditional Tlingit Territory. This map displays the Kwaan boundarys for the Kooyu and Keex tribes, both of which have residents living in Kake. I have used my "list of figures" paragraph style for the caption.

But, I would like the list of figures to only display the first sentence in that caption:

Figure 1 - Traditional Tlingit Territory.

And leave out the rest. I do not want to start a new paragraph between the two sentences however. I see that I can manually edit the list of figures after it has been updated but would prefer an automatic solution.

Any help would be appreciated.
