Dotted lines printing as solid lines from a PDF

Hi,

I'm new to InDesign.  I've created some dotted lines, which show as dotted in InDesign and the PDF on screen, but when printed to a laser printer show up on paper as solid lines with a dot at each end.  Any ideas?
