Retaining text-formatting from email message

I'm a graphic designer. Most clients I was able to educate to send me their formatted text (using plain, ital, bold& bold-ital, as needed) saved as a Word document which InDesign will recognize and allow me to place the formatted text in my document.

But some clients listen to my directions, say yes, then send me their text FORMATTED, BUT RATHER IN THEIR EMAIL MESSAGE, NOT AS AN ATTACHED WORD FILE... When I copy that text into a text box on my page — it will lose all the formatting and render as plain.  I have to look at their email message and format the text in InDesign....

My question is, how can I retain those formatting for usage in my page layout?
