Placing text from TextEdit, formatting preserved

Client keeps seending me text which she saves as TextEdit (or in her email message, which, when copied to TextEdit, does preserve it's formatting).

But when I place the text in InDesign, even when selecting "Preserve styles and formatting" it still shows up as the default fonts, all regular, no ital or bold or bold-ital.

Any solution to that?
