I have a 200 page book that is failing ePub validation because the xhtml file inside is over the 300K limit. I am using Anne Marie's trick in this video (http://tv.adobe.com/watch/learn-indesign-cs6/using-advanced-epub-2-exp ort-controls/?go=13247) to define three paragraph styles that should cause the ePub to split.
InDesign starts correctly splitting the ePub into book.xhtml, book1.xhtml, book2.xhtml, but then stops splitting. The entire rest of the book ends up in book2.xhtml. I end up with .xhtml files that are 1K, 1K, and 650K respectively. I can not figure out why InDesign won't split on export to ePub. The first two splits are at H2-Part paragraph style. I tried adding H2-Part paragraphs at three other spots in the book, but it still will not split there.
Thinking the new feature is the problem, I tried in the Advanced tab to split only at H2-Part. This would split the book into three parts which should get each xhtml chunk small enough to pass validation. It still stops splitting in book2.xhtml.
I checked the solution in this thread:
, but I am not using automatic numbering for chapters.
I definitely do not want to go back to Sigil to split the ePub. Since CS5.5, Sigil completely mangles the ePub.
Thank you so much for your time.
