The story (maybe it'll make sense to someone):
I'm sorting out a combo Smart Pub (aka Pre-1)/Ad Perfect combo xtags export. It's a lot better than I expected it to be, but there's one issue I'm either not explaining right, they've never come across before, or something.
Ad Perfect ads come in as inline boxes with PDF links. So I'll have a six column page, and text flows in intermingled with pictures. The boxes are the right size, the links are the right size, but when everything flows in any box-ad that has transparent pixels gets trimmed and then it doesn't fit right in the box.
The Problem:
When you place a link on a page by hand (apple + d) and check the "Show Import Options" button, you get a window where you can choose how the image gets cropped. And in the dropdown you can click different options like Bounding Box, Media, and Crop.
The ads seem to be importing in the Xtags with the Bounding Box setting, and this is what's wrong. The Media or Crop settings work fine when I import the ads by hand. But I haven't found a way to change this automatically in the Xtags.
Notice how the dancing ants extend much further to the right with the Crop setting? This is the way it's supposed to be.
If you have ANY ideas on a workaround, or if you use this kind of setup and have had to figure out how to fix it... Please let me know. I'm about to beat my head against the wall.
On top of this, I can't seem to get anyone from Pre-1 or Ad Perfect to understand what the problem is. Any suggestions on how to explain this to people who aren't the most experienced with InDesign or highly technical graphic settings would be much appreciated.
They're working on forcing a white background, which might (might) fix the problem, but at this point both sides have told me it's something wrong on the other end.
Help!
