How to perfectly align text in collumns.

I'm currently working on 40 page booklet that wants to look as crisp as possible. I need to have the text aligned to the left and justifying them is not an option. Automatically you would presume that I just tick "align to left" however, the right hand edge appears to be very inconsistent and looks as if it could easily hold more words before breaking into a new line.

I know this is the case for when I tick "Hyphenate" not only do some words hyphenate, but a few of the smaller words that are annoyingly breaking too soon, suddenly pop up a line and become more justified.

To explain my issue I have attached a screenshot that highlights this. If you note the second column first line you will clearly see there is room for the (NCS) that has broke onto the second line. This page is not the best example but I find over the booklet some pages are worse then others. From my tinkering it feels that this is to do with the text box more than the text itself.

Any advice, tips or feedback would be greatly appreciated.
