I am having a random freezing problem when exporting a PDF in InDesign. I export the file and and it goes into processing in the background. I try to close the file and InDesign tells me that the background operation is still working and that I can't close the file. I check the background task window and the PDF is still distilling. I let it go for about 30 minutes, and nothing happens. The PDF file footprint reads 0. InDesign won't let me stop the process in the background task window (or at least when I click the "x" nothing happens), and the only way I can get out of it is to force quit InDesign. When I re-open the file and try again, InDesign exports the PDF without a problem.
This has happened with 2 different types of files in the last day. First time was a magazine page... 50 pages were queue'd up to export PDFs and the whole process stops on one page. After an hour or so, I had to force quit and start over, and everything exported without any problems. This most recent freeze was a stand-alone relatively small ad file. Both times there have been no pre-flight errors indicated.
Is anyone else having this problem and is there something I could do besides force quit?
Thanks in advance for your help.
