GREP styles with Running Headers

Hello there. I'm having a problem using running headers with character styles applied via GREP within a paragraph. My situation is that I have list numbering within the pages and I'd like to do a running header with the numbers but I don't want to manually apply a character style to every number. There are hundreds.

I noticed that someone else had the same issue.
